FERVER – European Federation of Glass Recyclers welcomes yesterday’s vote on the End-of-Life Vehicles Regulation in the Plenary of the European Parliament. This vote is an important step in enhancing the circularity of end-of-life vehicles (ELVs) and will ensure robust dismantling and recycling requirements for automotive glass. FERVER underscores that mandatory removal is the most effective way to achieve high-quality secondary raw materials.

The adopted text explicitly lists windshields, rear and side windows made of glass, including rooftop glass among the components that must be removed from end-of-life vehicles before shredding. This dismantling step is essential to ensure the separation of automotive glass from the other materials and the recycling into furnace-ready cullet.

About FERVER
As the European federation of glass recycling companies, FERVER brings together industry leaders from 25 countries and its members are, amongst others, responsible for recycling around 70% of Europe’s packaging glass waste into highquality cullet – a key raw material used to produce new glass products. FERVER members recycle both container glass and flat glass. FERVER therefore plays a vital role in closing the loop for glass and advancing circularity across Europe.
