Since the launch of Close the Glass Loop back in June 2020, we never had the opportunity of organising an in-person workshop. It’s time we change that!

Our idea is to bring the Close the Glass Loop network together and galvanise the glass collection & recycling community into action through a highly interactive session. We are very grateful to Ecovidrio for offering to host us in the beautiful city of Madrid, on the 5th & 6th of June 2025, at the NH Collection Madrid Colón Hotel (C. del Marqués de Zurgena, 4, 28001, Madrid).

The workshop is entitled “Accelerating Results” because that is the motto of our next 5 years: to reach the 90% glass collection for recycling goal, with a massive focus on the national & local level.

We already have confirmation that Marta Gómez Palenque, General Manager for the Circular Economy at the Spanish Ministry for the Ecological Transition will be our keynote speaker, introducing the day.

Following that, the workshop will be covering:
• Inspiring case studies on glass collection
• Focus groups on the implementation of national action plans
• Focus groups on the design of joint projects between national platforms on key thematic areas
• A creative brainstorm on the development of a Close the Glass Loop fund to support national actions
In addition, Ecovidrio is organising a study visit on the 6th of June, where we will have the opportunity to learn from the experience of the glass collection contractor of the City of Madrid, and visit a bottle bank factory. This will give us unique insights into the point of collection and the management of collection infrastructure in a big city.
